Coach Chris Morant is an accomplished football professional and community leader. Hailing from Newport News, Virginia, he excelled in multiple sports at Bethel High School, earning Daily Press All-Star honors in football during 1994 and 1995. While attending James Madison University, he broke the Dukes’ all-time sacks record with 22 and was named the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year in 1999. Coach Morant was also a Division 1-AA All-American, an Eastern College Athletic Conference First-Team selection, and recipient of the prestigious Walter Camp Foundation Award.

His professional football career spanned a decade, including time in the CFL and Arena Football League. He played with the Florida Firecats and Norfolk Nighthawks, earning multiple All-American honors. In 2004, he won ArenaCup II with the Firecats and received the Community Service Player of the Year award from the Kansas City Brigade in 2006. He was also an All-American with teams like the Edmonton Eskimos and achieved 1st Team All-American honors several times throughout his career.

Transitioning into coaching, Coach Morant has held various roles, including eight years as Head Coach and three years as an assistant. Notable coaching positions include:

  • MTI Preparatory: Head Coach, Assistant Defensive Coordinator, and Special Teams Coordinator (2020–2021).
  • Lely High School: Defensive Coordinator and Head Boys Track Coach (2019–2020).
  • Gateway Charter High School: Head Coach (2016–2017).
  • Cape Coral High School: Assistant Defensive Coordinator and Head JV/Freshman Coach (2008–2010).
  • Professional Teams: Head Coach of the Florida Stingrays (AFL, 2010), and Kansas City Brigade Assistant Defensive Coordinator (2006).

He also founded and coached the P.A.L.S. Stingrays Youth Football Program and has made significant contributions to youth sports, helping over 800 young adults secure college scholarships. His commitment to community service includes volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters, directing the Shady Oaks Boys & Girls Club, and organizing affordable youth football camps.

In 2024, Coach Morant led the Roseville University Lions to a National Post Grad Athletic Association (NPGAA) Championship and was named NPGAA Coach of the Year. He continues to shape the future of student-athletes, emphasizing holistic development, community engagement, and excellence on and off the field.
