Coach Lucas cut his teeth in New Berlin where he attended New Berlin West High School and was a 3-year letterman and all-conference center for the Vikings. His team was 1988 WIAA State Runner-Up in Division 2, signed to the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point, where he played Defensive Tackle and Outside Linebacker.

He began his coaching career as the offensive line assistant coach for 2 years at New Berlin West in 1993 after his playing career ended with the Pointers. Having married into Antigo and getting his family situated, Chris began coaching for Antigo in 2002. Under his tenure as coach in Antigo, at the Freshman, Junior Varsity and Varsity levels, Chris has coached multiple undefeated seasons, several 1-loss seasons, 4 Varsity Conference Championships and many all-conference offensive and defensive linemen. Some of whom went on to play at the next level. In 2024, Chris was selected to coach the Defensive Line for the WFCA All-Star Game.

In his off time, Chris enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, and spending time in the outdoors. He and his wife, Heidi, share a daughter, Alyssa, and three sons, Casey, Samuel, and Maxton, and a grandson named Christopher
