Marc Bachman
About
Marc (Woody) Bachman completed his 36th season of coaching in 2023. Marc was hired in 1993 to teach Social Studies at Saint Peter. In 2008 he was hired to serve as the Operations and Maintenance Director for Saint Peter Public Schools. Bachman retired from the school district in August of 2022.
Marc is a 1984 graduate of Fairmont High School playing football for HOF Coach Tom Mahoney. He went on to play football for Dennis Raarup at Gustavus Adolphus College graduating in 1988 with degrees in Social Studies Teaching and History. Before joining the Saint Peter staff in 1993, he coached for Steve Byrne at Gustavus and Chuck Rogers at Eden Prairie High School before being fortunate to be hired by Jack Osberg at Augsburg College. His run of strong, positive mentors continued when he joined HOF coach Frank Fredlund’s staff at Saint Peter.
In 2023, Bachman served as Defensive Coordinator for Bloomington Jefferson High School. The team won the East-Gold District with an undefeated record and finished as the 7th ranked team in Class 5A. In his time with Saint Peter football, the Saints won 4 South Central Conference titles, participated in 3 State Tournaments and finished Class A runner-up in 1995. Marc served as Head Football Coach at Saint Peter from 1997 until 2009. In 2010 he returned to Gustavus Adolphus where he served as an assistant defensive coach, head strength coach and co-special teams coordinator. During the 2016 & 2017 seasons Marc served as Head Football Coach at Mankato Loyola. Marc returned to Gustavus until he was hired to serve as Defensive Coordinator for Tim Carlson at Bloomington Jefferson High School in 2022.
As a member of the Minnesota Football Coach’s Association, Marc served as a District Representative for many years before joining the Executive Committee in 2008 to serve as the Constitution and By-laws chair. In the years since, he has also led the Concussion Awareness committee and is currently the chair of the Membership Committee. For many years, Marc has assisted with the annual MFCA Football Coaches Clinic. He is also an at-large member of the Minnesota State High School Coaches Association for Region 2A. In 2022 Bachman was recognized for his service with the Minnesota Football Coaches Association Distinguished Service Award.
Marc and his wife Wendy (Ericksen) have 4 children Beau (Estee), Alina Ann, Chloe Laurae, Avery and a grandchild, Clara Elle. Marc and Wendy have been married for 33 years and reside in Saint Peter.
