Head Football Coach Nick David is a 2003 graduate of Waterville-Elysian-Morristown High School located in Waterville, MN. While at W-E-M, Coach David was a standout three-sport athlete in football, wrestling, and baseball. Coach David went on to earn his B.A. in Elementary Education and Coaching from Gustavus Adolphus College in 2007. While at Gustavus, Coach David played on the Golden Gustie football team where he was a 4-year starter, a 4-year letter winner, a 2-time team captain, and a 2-time All-MIAC selection at defensive tackle. Coach David has since earned his M.A. from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota and his Administrative Licensure from the University of Minnesota.

Coach David is entering his twelfth year as the Head Football Coach at Mound Westonka High School. During Coach David's eleven seasons at the helm, the White Hawks have won five Twin City Subdistrict Championships. In 2015, the White Hawks clinched their first winning season since 1980 (35 years). Their 2015 Subdistrict Championship was also the program's first conference/district championship since 1975 (40 years). Coach David's teams have recorded five eight-win seasons, which tie the most wins recorded in a single season in school history (1975, 1979, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2021, & 2022). The White Hawks have won more games in Coach David's eleven seasons at Mound Westonka than the thirty-four previous years combined.

Coach David was selected as the Twin City Subdistrict Coach of the Year following the 2015, 2016, 2017, 2021, and 2022 seasons. Coach David was also honored with the 2022 Minnesota Football Coaches Association (MFCA) Don Swanson Award. According to the MFCA, “The Don Swanson Award represents exemplary service to the MFCA. It is presented annually to a member of our association who personifies what the late Don Swanson exemplified: unconditional service to and for football in Minnesota.” Coach David was also selected to be the Head Coach of the South Team in the 2023 Minnesota High School All-Star Football Game.

Coach David has served in numerous roles on the Minnesota Football Coaches Association (MFCA) Executive Committee since 2019, including 2nd Vice-President, 1st Vice-President, and currently is serving as the MFCA President. Coach David has also been a Subdistrict Representative since 2015, and has served as the Individual Academic All-State Chair and on the MFCA Clinic Committee since 2019.

Prior to arriving at MWHS, Coach David was the Assistant Head Football Coach and Defensive Coordinator for 4 years at Tri-City United High School located in Montgomery, MN. While at TCU, Coach David helped build a football program that went 2-7, 1-8, and 2-7 in his first three seasons there to an 8-3 overall record and Section 3AAA Runner-Up finish in his fourth and final year.

Along with his head football coaching duties, Coach David is the Assistant Principal at Grandview Middle School. Coach David, his wife Melissa, and their three children Atlas (8), Beatrice (6), and Otto (3) live in Minnetrista.
